I'm curious what I can truly expect if I get into this. A lot of the questions you are asking really depend on him and his family and would get answered as you date him.

But with that being said, it's expected, as in most religions, that you marry someone of the same religion and beliefs to minimize conflicts and maximize compatibility in order to have a successful relationship in this life and the next. Dating / marriage with nonmembers isn't seen as a great scenario but it still happens all the time.

But I understand if you'd rather not have that back and forth right now.

Ryan Cragun, a sociology professor at the University of Tampa (who also happens to be ex-LDS) considers it an unexpected byproduct of the growing importance of the mission in the life of Mormon men; faced with the choice to serve or not (at a young age when they may not be fully ready to commit), many have chosen to leave.

I have a particular interest in this as I have a daughter in her late 30s that was widowed last year due to cancer, and she lives in Utah County.

The article is partly a book review of Date-onomics, a book that breaks down dating trends by demographics.

But part of the reason why that is normal to them is because their religion dictates so much of their lives that it shapes them as beings.

So a lot of people they meet, they feel, with a lot of the big picture issues that they are similar.
